Planning my NYC trip

new york, holiday, trip, trip planning, travel, travel blog

So on the 15th of December I'm going to the wonderful New York City!! I'm going with my boyfriend and another couple. Even though it is a few months away I like to plan things! (And make sure I haven't forgot something vital I need). So I thought I would do a post to get all the tips from all you bloggers. I'm ridiculously excited and want to make sure I don't miss anything big!

Seeing as it is winter I know I will need warm clothing.. Which I will have to think about when all the winter items come into stores. I'm thinking jumpers, jeans/leggings, uggs, some form of boots and a nice new winter coat(??). It's not going to be freezing but I still need to wrap up!

But what else do I need? Obviously I need a visa for the time I'm there (enlightening me on how to get a visa may be helpful), but does anyone have any tips on what to buy prior to going or what to do when I'm there? What's the best things to do in New York?

I'm terribly excited to go see the Christmas tree at the Rockafella centre and ice skating in Central Park.. All the things I have seen in films ha.

Some ideas would be great as I want to make the most of our time there and enjoy every moment! (And buy lots of make up).

Apocalips Lip Velvet

make up, mua, bbloggers, beauty, blog, skincare, vegas nay, maybelline, superstay, lipstick, lips, review, rimmel, apocalips

I missed all the hype about the first ever Rimmel Apocolips, but when I saw they released a matte range I needed to indulge! I've forever wanted to try the Lime Crime Velvetines but just never got round to it, so these are a similar thing! I went for the colour 'Meteoric Matte' £6.49 which is a bright raspberry type colour. They also do two pink shades, a darker purple shade and a red shade, but I own so many reds, I decided to opt for a little change.

The only thing I didn't like is the applicator, it doesn't have much of a sponge to it and it was hard to get good coverage of my lips (and I have teeeny lips). Because I couldn't get quite an even edge I had to use a Mac lipliner to give it a clean edge. Other than that the coverage and colour is amazing and lasts such a long time! (Especially seeing as I spent all morning eating cake at a Macmillan morning and it lasted the whole time!)

I'm definitely going to grab a few more colours to add to my make up stash! What do you think of them?

Mac haul

I really struggle walking past a Mac store without at least having a look in, it is rare I won't find an excuse to buy 1 thing! A girl can never have too many lipsticks...! This time I got one repurchase and one extra little goodie just for the sake of it.

My repurchase was of the Mac Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash Mascara which is £19.00. This is so far my all time favourite mascara, it is buildable but doesn't make your lashes cakey. It also makes my lashes appear longer and bolder. The wand is so easy to use cause of it's shape, just don't prod yourself in the eye with the spikes (ouch)!

My second purchase was Mac Blankety lipstick £15.50, this reminds me so much of Mac Cherish (which I already own) but I find the Amplified Creme so much softer on the lips in Autumn/Winter time. It is a beautiful beige/pink tone with a creamy finish, I have been wearing it with my Subculture liner, which doesn't match too well and needs blended but it creates a lovely pink tone to it. (I need to find a liner to match it).

What is your favourite things to get from Mac? Or what is on your wishlist?

September Birchbox

make up, mua, bbloggers, beauty, blog, skincare, vegas nay, maybelline, superstay, lipstick, lips, review, birchbox, subscription box

There's something about receiving a bright exciting parcel through the post that makes my day, I always look forward to getting my +Birchbox UK even if I'm not always that excited about the products. This month I couldn't complain once about anything I received as I think I'll find a use for it all at some point!

There was quite a mixture of things, which is probably why I like it so much! It's so much better getting items that you can use for different things, rather than receiving a mass of body or face creams that will take forever to get through. I'm excited to use everything in the box for once!

The item I was most excited about was the +beautyblender £26.00, I was gutted when everyone else got one the other month and I didn't! (Shame I've only recently bought one too). As much as there is a few things I dislike about the real Beauty Blenders.. I couldn't do my make up without one. I reviewed the Beauty Blender here.

Next is the Model Co. £15.00 lip gloss in 'Viva', it's a bright cotton candy type pink which is lovely for through the day. It is so pigmented so it doesn't go clear when you put it on your lips, it still keeps its bright tone. Birchbox gave all subscribers an option on which colour they wanted to choose and I'm glad I got the colour I wanted!

I've worn it with Mac Mehr liner as I have the smallest lips ever, but isn't the colour beautiful? And it tastes like sweeties!

I've always awed at the +Benefit Cosmetics UK skincare range but I've still never got around to try it, I must admit it's the pretty vintage packaging that attracts me to it the most! This month it was the It's Potent Eye Cream £25.50 which is said to reduce fine lines and dark circles under your eyes. I'm starting to get to the age where I need to take care of my skin more to avoid wrinkles, so this will be a great start!

Also in the box was Korres Citrus Shower Gel £8.00 which has a gorgeous but not over powering scent. It has quite a thick consistency so a little goes a long way! I have really sensitive skin so I'm glad this didn't irritate my skin after using it!

Agarve Hair Oil Treatment £16.00 I don't find this any different than any other hair oil treatments and it also doesn't smell any different, but hair oils will always come in handy when my hair needs that little extra TLC every now and then!It is a little bit cheaper than Moroccan Oil though if you are after a cheaper alternative!

Urban Fruit Baked snacks £13.20 (Pack of 6), I received the pineapple flavour (wish I got strawberry though). It's great for a healthy snack on the go, if you like dried fruit, they aren't crispy and are nice and gooey in the middle!

Birchbox 'Happy Days' photo clip, I loved this little quirk in the box. I'm going to stick it on my desk at work with a nice happy photo on it :).

What was your favourite part of Septembers Birchbox? Did you get anything similar too?

Beauty Blender

beauty blender, beauty, make up, mua, vegas nay, dupe, birchbox, make up tools, cosmopolitan, instagram, bblogger, bbloggers

I'd never bought a 'real' beauty blender yet, so seeing as I had enough +Birchbox UK points saved up I bought the travel set. I chose the travel set as I wanted to try the blender cleanser too, which you don't get in the other packs. It is only £22 for the travel set here, rather than £24 for the duo without the cleanser.

On the left is the real beauty blender and on the right is a dupe from eBay. I have always used the eBay dupes since beauty blenders became a craze as I wasn't sure if I would like them or not.. I loved it! I always stuck by the dupes as they're only £2 and they only last so long before the eventually split.

But now I've tried a real one, the texture is completely different. The dupe has a more smooth surface whereas the real blender has a sponge bubbley texture (great explanation I know). I'm not sure if it is the texture, but the real one soaks in a lot less foundation compared to the dupe.. so a lot less product will be used, but the down side is that they dry up really quickly. Another downside is that they leak out the pink dye.. which has resulted in my dresser having a pink stain now, great!

For £22-24 they aren't exactly the cheapest version on the market, and don't think they're the best either. I'm definitely sticking to my trusty dupes in the future!

What do you use to apply your foundation? Have you tried the beauty blender?

Maybelline Color Elixr

(argh fingerprints)

Now I'm not much of a lipgloss person, but ever since I received my Mac lipglass they're growing on me. Now popping into my local Superdrug I saw these, and they reminded me of the Dior lipsticks I've always wanted for the packaging.. If packaging grabs my eye it makes me want it so much more..

This has a nice little paddle brush to put it on, which makes applying it so much easier and quicker. The best bit in my book is that it doesn't leave a sticky residue on my lips, so that means no hair stuck to my face in the wind!

They have some beautiful colours from nude to purple, but I chose the colour 'Mandarin' which you can get here. Out of all the colours this was the only only shade I haven't really worn before. (I do plan to go back for Raspberry). It's a lovely shade for everyday wear, and to wear over a coral coloured lipstick. I'm excited to try out other colours!

Have you tried the Maybelline Elixrs yet? What was your favourite shade?

Depop goodie

mac lipstick, mac cosmetics, bbloggers, make up, bblogger, beauty, skincare, girl, mac, mua,

After discovering Depop I've become addicted, which isn't good for my bank balance or my overflowing make up draws. Once I saw this lipstick pop up I had to grab it to add to my collection, it's such a softer version of Mac Morange. I've been after a orange tone for Autumn day times and this just looked like the perfect colour!

One thing I couldn't order from Depop is used make up, especially lipsticks.. so I'm definitely sticking to the unused products people are selling/swapping. But it is a great way to discover products you may have missed in stores.

mac, mac cosmetics, mac lipstick, mua, make up

With it being a frost finish that means it will have a nice glossy coat on it when you apply it to your lips, and it will also have a pretty shimmer on the lips. The shimmer in the lipstick is a golden colour which makes the lipstick stand out.

This is what it looks like on with Mac Dervish lipliner:

I know everyone's going for red and purple tones for Autumn but I can't really get away with such dark colours for work. So this tone will suit me for a pop of colour through to day.

What's your current favourite lipstick shade?

Cohorted.co.uk

mac, mac cosmetics, make up, limited edition mac, highlight and contour, vegas nay, anastasia beverly hills, mua, motd, review, bbloggers, bblogger

Once I saw this pop up on +Cohorted Social Shopping Twitter account I knew I needed it! I'm such a sucker for +MAC Cosmetics, and especially when it's in limited edition packaging. I must admit I never saw this in store or online, so I'm unsure on what collection it is. But the packaging and the make up itself is stunning! I got this online from Cohorted for a bargain price of £16.40 instead of £25.00, they have such good deals for other high end beauty products too.

Each stripe of colour will create a beautiful highlight tone above my cheekbones, and with it being such a light shade it's perfect for my pale skin tone. I currently use Mac's Lightscapade to highlight above my cheekbones when contouring which you can get here, but this creates such stunning highlight too. The highlight is a bit more of a pink tone compared to Lightscapade, so I could also be used as a subtle blush too.

This is how it looks as a highlight:

Summer Body Sprays

victorias secret, body spray, bblogger, bbloggers, love spell, daydream, perfume, summer, the fragrance shop

It may be making it's way to Autumn now, but I thought I would share my favourite summer body sprays whilst there still some sun about!

I love Victoria's Secret body sprays and perfumes, they always have such a unique and sweet smell that just draws me to buy them! These two are my current favourites, they're quite different scents to each other. Love Spell has a more sweetie like smell to it whereas Pure Daydream has a more floral scent.

I usually use these when I first come out the shower or for a bit of a refresh through the day. They're far too big to carry around in my handbag so they mostly stay on the shelves in my room, which is a shame! When I go to Manchester in October I'm definitely stocking up on these again.

What is your favourite scent from Victoria's Secret?
