The Ordinary Serum Foundation

The Ordinary Serum Foundation

I had been dying to try this foundation for months, since probably before Christmas, as everyone was on the hype about it! I didn't budge until after Christmas when I grabbed my Morphe 3502 palette from BeautyBay and it was actually in stock for once! The Coverage foundation was sold out so I opted for the Serum foundation, they're quite similar in price but one is full coverage and one is 'natural' coverage.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation

I must admit when I did buy this, I didn't have a clue what the difference between the serum and coverage foundations was but I do slightly wish I had grabbed the other one. The consistency is really watery, like so watery that it will literally run off your hands when you go to apply it. It's also really watery and dewy when applying, and takes a good 3+ layers to actually get a colour on your face. I know it's a 'natural' finish, but it didn't apply evenly to only use one layer.

It's a shame as the shade I bought was actually a perfect match for what I needed, it just didn't live up to any hype. I got the shade 2.0N, which is a light to medium shade with no undertones. I usually buy ones with a yellow undertone, but I wanted to be able to use my darkening drops if it was too light. It's tough buying a foundation online! I'm the shades Vanilla in Too Faced, Ceylan in Nars and Beige in Bourjois, just in case you want to compare for shades!

In reality, I know this foundation is cheap as chips but I did have high expectations from the hype that surrounded it! For £5 it's worth a try, and if you like a barely there foundation this may be more suited to you than it was me. I personally have better budget foundations that I would recommend in a heartbeat. There is still so so much more I want to try from this brand though, so it hasn't put me off! I'm still desperate for their Salicylic Acid and their Hylamide Blur!

Have you tried this foundation yet? What else form the brand would you recommend?
