Group trips for a solo traveller

Group trips for a solo traveller

I've now reached the age where your friends are either off getting married, or the rest are out getting drunk and locked out their house. I'm the middle person, I don't go out drinking much and spend most my time wanting to find somewhere new to explore. So when it comes to trying to book breaks away somewhere, the struggle is real. Everyone has their families, boyfriends, husbands or other ties, so they can't go away. But lil' old me wants to go somewhere new!

This is why I have been toying with the idea of travelling solo, but within a travel group. As I've never been anywhere alone before, I don't know how I would cope outside of a 'group' so I think this is the best way to test the waters. The only issue now is, that there is so so much choice, and so many companies to choose from.

Finding your destination is harder than you think, don't get me wrong I really really want to do Thailand but what about Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines? The options are literally endless with the amount of companies and tours available at the moment. I have to make my mind up for my graduation present to myself next year. After all, working full time and university and writing a dissertation is enough to deserve a break?!

Turkey

You must know by now if you follow me on Twitter, that I love Turkey. It was one of my favourite countries I visited last year, and I've been desperate to go back since. Travel Talk Tours do a Essential Turkey tour, which covers; Istanbul, Gallipoli, Troy, Pamukkale and Cappadocia. Everyone on Instagram must have seen Cappadocia at some point, the place with all the hot air balloons? I need to go there one day! Your travel with a group of people, which averages around 35-40 per group. Think of all the new people you can meet?

Thailand

After doing Bali, I really want to visit Thailand. It's somewhere I've been desperate to go for a long time, but it's never been on any of my friends radars to go. So maybe a group tour is the best way to experience it all. Ever since my cousin went backpacking here it's been in the back of my mind, if it's anything like Bali I'm sold too! STA Travel do a Southeast Asia on a Shoestring tour, on this tour you visit; Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Chenderoh Lake, Kuala Lumpur, Sinagpore and more. It really ticks off a lot of items and is only for 21 days to do it all!

Vietnam / Cambodia

My friend is currently off exploring in Vietnam with her boyfriend and it looks absolutely beautiful. I'm constantly reading Girls Love Travel posts and this is somewhere that comes up a lot. There is a Cambodia on a Shoestring tour on G Adventure which keeps intriguing me, it's somewhere I don't know a lot about so the thought of going is all very new! Your visit Bangkok, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, and Cần Thơ/Ho Chi Minh City.

Banff

This is one I may or may not do on a tour, it depends on my situation when it ever comes around. But the thought of being here and having a camp fire with a group just sounds so fun. I haven't been back to Canada since my Auntie passed, so to go back would mean the world. Exploring Canada's amazing landscapes would be the best way to see it again. Trek America is the best operator for this, and if you saw Fordtographys photos you will know why! The Glacier and Grizzlies tour shows you a bit of everything such as; Vancouver, Revelstoke, Lake Louise, Jasper National Park and Whistler. It already get's me excited thinking of it!
