Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

I've been using this mascara for around 3 months now, so I've definitely given it a good run out to try it. Urban Decay can draw me in solely by their packaging anyway, so the Troublemaker mascara did not disappoint. The mascaras packaging itself is also all multicoloured and sturdy, some high street packaging can feel quite flimsy but you know you could safely put this in your luggage or handbag. They actually do this in a mini travel size too, even more handy!

This is actually the first Urban Decay mascara I've ever tried, I'd never heard much about them so it's never been a first preference. They don't have heaps of mascaras to choose from but they do have two others to choose from, the Perversion Mascara and the Double Team Coloured Mascara. I've never tried a coloured mascara before, so it's definitely intrigued me!

The mascara is £19.50, so it's pretty on par with most higher end mascaras in it's range like Benefit and Too Faced etc. The formula itself claims to lengthen, volumise and separate your lashes. It definitely doesn't go clumpy, which I was happy about, but I always think plastic wands tend to separate quite well. But alas with plastic wands, don't stab yourself in the eye cause it isn't pleasant!

The wand has longer bristles at one end and shorter bristles at the other. This is probably my least favourite part of the mascara, I much prefer a wand with bristles of the same length. As the end with the longer bristles tends to be at the wrong end for the way I apply it, it also makes it harder to evenly apply it and I spend more time trying to not empale my eyeball.

The formula itself does what it says though, it makes my lashes appear longer and thicker, but also keeps them looking natural. If you want big thick long lashes, you will need more than one coat. The first coat lengthens and volumises but it doesn't make them as exaggerated as you may like for evening make up. If I'm going from day to night, I tend to add another coat of this to make it that little bit thicker and more obvious.

As much as I like this mascara, it just hasn't had the 'holy grail' effect. It's a good mascara, but it isn't the best mascara I've ever tried. It's pretty on par with Benefits Rollerlash for volume and length. Tarte is so far trumping for me in the mascara game, their Maneater is still my all time favourite.

What is your holy grail mascara? I need another to try next!
