Epliating instead of shaving

Epliating instead of shaving

It must have been about 6 years ago I started epilating but I never actually stuck to it, because well, it hurts. I always went through phases, pretty much like my laser hair remover, and never really stuck it out. My old one eventually bit the dusts so I invested in the Braun Wet to Dry Epilator. I thought a one I could use when I'm in the shower would hurt less and maybe entice me to use it more. I've had it for a few months now and I've actually been converted to it. I couldn't tell you the last time I've had to change my razor head!

What is an epilator?

An epilator is a device which plucks out the hairs from the root rather than just trimming them. There is wet and dry epilators, some can only be used on dry skin and some when you're in the shower. The ones that can be used in water hurt less as the hair is removed easier. It's like waxing but not exactly as quick.

Why an epilator?

I've switched to an epilator as they reduce hair growth, so anything that means I don't have to shave my legs/arm pits pretty much every day I'm sold. Pulling hair from the root can damage the hair follicle and even stop the hair growth complete (pls). You can use epilators more than waxing too, so you don't have to grow anything out to epilate which is the worst part of waxing. You also get less ingrown hairs from epilating so that is also a perk! I would always recommend epilating shorter hairs though, the longer hairs hurt a lot more!

The Braun Wet and Dry epilator comes with a epilator head and an electric shaving head. It also comes with caps like precision caps, facial cap, an efficiency cap and bikini styler. To be quite honest, I haven't a clue what the bikini style does and I use it for my occasional tash instead. This is however my favourite epilator I've tried thus far, it's not the cheapest on the market but you have to take into consideration how much you spend on razors and waxing every month.

Don't get me wrong, epilating does hurt but for the matter of seconds. Just as much as plucking your brows hurts from that initial pluck then its over and done with. Although, the more you epilate the less it actually hurts. The first time I used this I contemplated why I had bought it and questioned my sanity, but after a few more I remembered why I love it. I'm loving not having to shave or epilate half as often as I used to or having to worry about it. So here's hoping by my holidays in June I won't have to take my razor!

Depending on your budget, there is a few Wet & Dry Epilators to try:
