Why I want to visit Barcelona

Why I want to visit Barcelona

I've been dying to visit Barcelona for as long as I remember, but I could never convince people to come with me in the past. Or sometimes we had all typically ran out of holidays so never managed to squeeze it in that year. I actually debated booking it solo a few times, but alas I'm still too scared to ever go. Instead we took the opportunity of some cheap flights through Jet2 a few weeks ago, and I'm eventually going!!
I've always had a love of visiting the amazing monuments around the world with the likes of Petra in Jordan, the pyramids in Egypt, Machu Piccu in Peru, the colosseum in Rome and of course the Sagrada Famila. I think it's only relative that I love anything to do with buildings/architecture with the nature of my job, so I really love going to places with beautiful buildings and art!

Why I want to visit Barcelona

What I want to see:

Sagrada Famila

I literally cannot wait to see what this is like in person, all the work that has went on this is so impressive. I love all the different mixtures of architecture style!

Las Ramblas

This is one of the promenades in Barcelona where you can grab waffles and people watch. What better combo is there? I love going to the 'squares' in Europe, they're full of amazing cafes and some of the best smelling food.

Casa Battlo

Another one of Gaudi's creations I need to see, another strange but alluring building! You can have a tour of here, which I'm definitely going to have to look into!

Why I want to visit Barcelona

Park Guell

I've always wanted to see all the mosaic balconies here, I've seen this so many times in photos and film and it just looks amazing! It love colourful places ,whether graffiti or art so I'm so excited to see this!

Casa Vincens

This hasn't been open that long, but is another one of Gaudi's places to see. It's one of his first mansions and is covered in amazing mosaic tiles and ornate windows.

The Graffiti District

If there is one thing I love seeing, is the graffiti districts. Barcelona has one just opposite Parc del Centre de Poblenou and I need to see it. The district looks huge and I can't wait to see what there is!

We still haven't booked our accommodation yet, so we're on the look out for the best place/area to stay. Have you been before? Where would you recommend staying?

I'm so excited to see Barcelona and I can't wait to tick it off my list!
